Supporting Casas Maternas

Casas Maternas are an important element in the national strategy to reduce pre-natal, maternal and neonatal mortality by sheltering expectant mothers from isolated rural communities during the weeks before delivery and for some days thereafter. During their stay, mothers are monitored by health professionals and receive health education. They deliver in nearby hospitals or medical centers with skilled cared assistance.
